RICH BENDA PHOTOGRAPHY ARCHIVAL FINE ART PAPERS |
||||
| Archival Papers: I use Hahnemuhle Photo Rag and Somerset Velvet. Hahnemuhle the company that has been making artist papers for 415 years, has created a fantastic new sheet coated on one side for enhancement to pigment based inks produced especially for photographic reproduction. The surface is the smoothest bright white 100% cotton rag acid free watercolor paper for long-term artificiality. Hahnemuhle Photo Rag used with high-gamut PiezographyBW carbon pigmented inks produces exquisite exhibition quality prints. Somerset Velvet Mouldmade in England by St. Cuthberts Paper Mill-Inveresk PLC the most popular fine art inkjet paper is a 100% cotton and acid-free uncoated watercolor paper with a slightly textured surface. Somerset Velvets soft elegant feel and radiant white color provides the widest dynamic range of all uncoated fine art papers for long-term archivability. Somerset Velvet used with high-gamut PiezographyBW carbon pigmented inks produces exquisite exhibition quality prints. Epson Premium Luster Photo Paper: is engineered to give the highest resolution and color gamut available for vivid color reproduction. This paper combined with Epsons UltraChrome ink when framed under glass and displayed indoors has a lightfast rating of 71 years. These inkjet prints truly rival those of traditional silver halide prints. Archival Properties: Different types of inkjet paper have varying degrees of susceptibility to fading over time. The main cause of this is exposure to UV light. Exposure to direct sunlight should be avoided, and UV-resistant glass can be used when framing. Other contributing factors can be humidity, temperature, pollution and acidity. Using acid-free mount boards prevents acid burns (yellowish-brown burn lines) from appearing on artworks over time. If these guidelines are followed, I am confident that my prints will comfortably last a lifetime, with many having a lifespan in excess of 150 years. Image Size: Actual dimensions of a printed image. This refers only to the image itself and not to the size of the paper it is printed on. On average my Image Sizes are (15 inches on the long side by 10 inches on the short side). Overall Print Size: The physical dimensions of the paper upon which a print is made. My Overall Print Sizes are either (19 inches on the long side by 13 inches on the short side) or (22 inches on the long side by 17 inches on the short side). |
